From Frankenstein to the Temple Mount
Promethean Madness
‘Frankenstein’ subtitled ‘The Modern Prometheus’ by Mary Shelley, published by the Oxford press, contains the name of Lewis Awad; an Egyptian Promethean scholar, in its sources. Awad was associated with the Egyptian weekly newspaper Al Ahram. They celebrated the tenth anniversary of Awad’s death by holding a summit for sixty Arab scholars on the last week of Sept. 2001. Each received a copy of Awad’s work ‘Prometheus Unbound‘.
Prometheus stole fire, considered the gift of knowledge, and gave it to man and was chained to a rock for his efforts. Awad was a Promethean, and because of his writings, he was jailed by Egyptian authorities and beaten. His scholarship on Frankenstein and Prometheus are testaments to a scholar that did not shy from writing about what he believed to be true and later the Egyptian government apologized. The Egyptian government thought he was a Marxist and because he was a Coptic, a Christian Arab, he was harassed by extremist Muslims for writing about Islam.
Awad wrote about Prometheus in French and English literature - a thematic study that is on par with any Princeton University scholarship even though Awad was only there a short while. Awad’s work, if it was more known, would be at the center of controversy because of the underlying theme, that the Pre Hellenic Dramatists writings by Aeschylus and others, about Prometheus, contained proto-Biblical themes. Awad critiques a list of writers that wrote about Prometheus and reflects a heightened interest in a delicate subject and attempts to reconcile the paradox, over generations of writers.
The paradox of Prometheus is especially sensitive during the Reformation. Prometheus as Satan is a topic of research that Awad writes about and Prometheus/Satan is evidenced in the art of the Counter Reformation.
The artist Guido Reni painted the allegory of St. Michael slaying Satan in 1635, when Galileo was imprisoned for the Inquisition. The artist scientist Galileo was not alarming the church with Greek metaphors but with the advancement of learning.
St. Michael holds the Chain of Satan like a scale, on judgment day. The Reformers observe Michaelmas day as a time of reckoning contracts. Saint Michael is the patron saint of Christians, Jews and Muslims. Traditionally the shield of St. Michael carries the motto in Latin “Who is like God? Satan/Prometheus, in the painting, is the likeness of Galileo. Prometheus, like Satan and Galileo, are fallen from grace; all three suffer for their part in forbidden knowledge. The painting was commissioned for the Roman Catholic church. Some say Reni was depicting a later Pope as Satan, Galileo does share a hairline similar with the Pope and Reni’s Satan.
Milton visited Galileo in 1638, before writing ‘Paradise Lost‘, an inspiration to Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ and Percy Shelley’s ‘Prometheus Unbound‘. Galileo as the Tuscan artist with optic glass, sees the reflection of the moon in the shield of Satan in ‘Paradise lost‘. To Milton, Satan is a heroic figure. Because of Galileo and the descendants of Apollo , we can now see images of the beginning of the Universe.
Today religious extremist’s want to claim a tradition from the past and are willing to blow things up to fulfill religious prophecy. The Jewish, Christian and Islamic ‘militant’ End Timers are cheering the tensions over the Temple Mount. The Islamic extremists have shown a desire to destroy religious sites and statues that predate Islam and the Jewish extremists pray for the destruction of the Temple. The Roman Catholic church and Constantine’s wife had a church built on the Temple Mount in 400 AD. The church was destroyed but not the Catholic faith.
For historians there is a sanctity for artifacts of long ago cultures whether they be Canaanite, Thracian, Hebrew, Greek or later Christian and Muslim. It was not the intent of the UN or the USA to recreate a tradition or cult on the Temple Mount that is part of prophecy but preserve what is there and restore what is destroyed by modern acts of violence. If this is not the mandate of the UN, they should say so.
Prometheus was chained on the Caucasus mountains and begat humanity. The word Caucasian is a cultural marker; a tribute to Prometheus and the authors of creation, the playwrights, dramatists and chroniclers of early civilizations. Prometheus Unbound is when we get over it. No name is better symbolic for the Temple Mount, than the one it has been called for centuries, Al Asqa, Noble Sanctuary. It has a nice ring to it; a noble sanctuary for all God’s creations, from the baby lamb to the sacred stone; that binds us all.
A short explanation of Golden Fleece is included in this version as it is an important and relevent text from 1626. This is a work in progress but allows the reader a deeper understanding of what was controversial then and how some things never change.
GOLDEN FLEECE
Artists theologians and writers used Greek mythology for allegory and metaphor. Shakespeare’s characters names ( Diana, Escalis ) in Alls well that ends well” in the dialogue on virginity, are Greek. The issue of chastity among priests and the idolatrous worship of images of virgin St. Mary was a hot topic for the reformers before and after Shakespeare’s works were published in 1623. The thematic origins of the Virgin Mary were found in the Greek virgin goddess of the playwright Aeschylus and the Orphic poems of the pre Hellenic Thracian culture especially Diana of the temple of Ephesus considered one of the seven wonders of the world circa 400 BC.
The Temple was destroyed by the act of a single individual and William Vaughan in his book the Golden Fleece compares that act to the attempt of guy Fauks to blow up the parliament during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The New World promoters were against the destruction of temples of worship and houses of government.
William Vaughan wrote the “Golden Fleece” in 1626 and is a source for this article. Vaughan a contemporary of Shakespeare addresses the reader as Apollo. Apollo sits on a golden throne with Minerva (learning) on his right and mnemonic on his left( memory, history).Vaughan is able to make rational judgments on religion through Apollo.
Vaughan’ book addresses King Charles 1 with Greek gods, it is when Vaughan addresses his censors that he defends his use of the pagan gods as ‘Poetic rapture’. The Golden fleece is sought by Jason, it is the fleece that will enrich Great Britain, it is the fat sheep in New Found land. The book is concerned with the cuases of inflation and the import of high quality wool of New Found Land, will counter the high quality wool of Spain which is undermining the economy of Great Britain.
The Golden Fleece is the name of a 15th century order of knights associated with the later reign of Queen Mary and cult of Virgin Mary worship referred to as Marian. Sir Walter Raleigh a new World developer partner of Vaughan’s and Spencer author of the Fairie Queen knight Rosae Cross are establishing an order of knights of the rosae Cross to counter the Roman Catholic Golden fleece. Spencer includes an indictment of the former Bloody Queen Mary in his book of many volumes and Vaughan identifies with the Rosae Cross knights in the Golden Fleece. A church or Temple is built on a stone or corner stone, their argument would be that once you start romancing the stone and relics it is Idolatry. The Greeks did it with Diana of Ephesus and Queen Mary did it with the Virgin Mary. Idolatry is when you worship an inanimate object such as a stone or an image as holy and start writing notes or offering objects of veneration.
While Vaughan was seeking the favor of King Charles in 1626 the artist statesman Peter Paul Rubens was being knighted and commissioned for work by King Charles 1. Rubens is remembered for peace deals he secured over the next five years.
Ruben’s painted St. George slaying the dragon, he also painted ‘Prometheus Bound’ in 1610. Prometheus is chained to a rock and the sharp talons of the Eagle dig at the crown of Prometheus’s head. It makes Prometheus , Christ like, in his suffering. The chain is in the foreground next to the hand of Prometheus on the stone with a ring attached. The chain and ring of Prometheus in Rubens painting appears in the hands of St.Michael in a painting by Guida Reni
The artist Reni painted the allegory of St. Michael slaying Satan in 1635, when Galileo was imprisoned for the Inquisition. Saint Michael is the patron saint of Christian, Jews and Muslims, traditionally the shield of St. Michael carries the motto in Latin “Who is like God? The custodians of the church in Italy, the painting was commissioned for, exercised prayerful thoughts in speeches to skulls.
The painting could be titled Dionysius slaying Prometheus.
Dionysius:
1 The Elder writer from 400 BC Italy, were centers for learning the magic of numbers arrived from Greece.
2. The Greek myth of Dionysus, died as a son of Greek God and was reborn with feminine qualities,
3. Dionysus Areopagite and his attempt circa 500AD to reform the church.
(The Areopagite is the top of a hill in Athens intended for counsel on important matters circa 400 BC. The tops of hills are for writing Orphic poems and councils on governing and contemplating the mystery of numbers. )
Prometheus/Satan is the likeness of Galileo. Prometheus like Satan and Galileo are fallen from grace, all three suffer for their part in forbidden knowledge.
To the Roman Catholics Galileo was Satan for disrupting the order of their Universe . Milton visited Satan (Galileo) in 1638, before writing ‘Paradise Lost‘, a work mentioned in Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ and Percy Shelley’s ‘Prometheus Unbound‘. In Milton Satan is a heroic figure. Galileo the Tuscan artist with spy glass sees the reflection of the moon in the shield of Satan in ‘Paradise lost‘.

The right for Jews to return is a problem when it attracts radicalized ex patriots who want prophecy and tradition and denounce Western society.

The religious communities that see science as a threat to their traditions is misguided. But, the advancement of learning is assaulted when Islamic extremist throw acid in the face of children or political and religious groups undermine the methodology of science. Individuals and organizations funding anti Darwinian protests are really challenging the methodology of science that Sir Francis Bacon and Galileo championed in their Advancement of Learning.
